Our History
During the history of the Mears Parkway Auto Group, we strived to create a great customer experience. Our dealerships include Ford, Lincoln, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram, Nissan, and Honda. We also offer automotive services through Parkway Performance, Parkway Detailing, and Mighty Auto Parts. At the Mears Parkway Auto Group, we have devoted ourselves to serving our customers and the community.
- 1957 - Glenn Mears Sr. opened Park Marine, a boating company
- 1960's - Glenn Mears Sr. opened Honda Motorcycle dealer, Company becomes Park Cycle and Marine
- 1967 - Glenn Mears Jr. and John Mears start working for their father at Park Cycle and Marine
- 1970's - BMW Motorcycles was added to Park Cycle and Marine
- 1970's - Park Cycle and Marine added Honda cars and eventually phases out boats and motorcycles
- 1970's - Glenn Mears III and Mark Mears start working at the dealership
- 1982 - Acquired Park Honda South point
- 1985 - Glenn Mears III start working on the accounting at Park Honda South
- 1986 - Glenn Mears III sent to Sunshine Honda and Acura to learn the business in Michigan
- 1987 - Glenn Mears III came back to Ohio and started at Sunnyside Honda as a used car manager
- 1987 - March 1, 1987, The Mears Parkway Auto Group started as Park Honda South, on 4th Street in New Philadelphia, Ohio. Over the years it grew, and set one of the highest Honda new car penetrations in the state of Ohio.
- 1992 - Purchases land for Park Honda South
- 1999 - Opened Park Performance when part of the New Philadelphia location was vacated. This served as Mears Parkway Auto Group's "performance shop", providing automotive accessories.
- 2002 - The Mears Parkway Auto Group acquires Nissan Lincoln Mercury from the Nemetz Family
- 2004 - The Mears Parkway Auto Group was awarded the Suzuki franchise to the Honda location in New Philadelphia.
- 2005 - The Honda location moved into the blue and white image facility along I-77, two lots south of the Nissan Lincoln Mercury location. Suzuki became a standalone facility by remaining in the original location on 4th Street in New Philadelphia.
- 2012 - The Mears Parkway Auto Group acquires Ford and Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram from the Humphrey Family
- 2013 - The Parkway Auto Superstore was established at 311 Commercial Parkway in Dover, Ohio. With this new addition came Ford, Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep and Ram. Lincoln moved into our new location that housed our Ford line.
- 2013 - Suzuki franchise closes
- 2015 - Parkway Nissan opens a brand-new facility at their current location.
- 2017 - Parkway Auto Superstore's Ford Lincoln franchise opens brand new facility at their current location.
- 2017 - The Mears Parkway Auto Group acquires Mears Nissan from Waikem Auto Family
- 2018 - Mark Mears becomes part owner of Parkway Honda
- 2021 - Parkway Performance moves from 4th Street location in New Philadelphia to 555 Commercial Parkway in Dover.
